Boston Dynamicsov Spot može izvesti backflip, ali taj trik je rezultat stotina ponavljanja i vrlo kontroliranog okruženja. To je impresivno za kameru, ali u robotici je pitanje uvijek isto: koliko od te agilnosti preživi kada robot izađe u stvarni prostor? Demo je dokaz da sustav može izvesti pokret; nije dokaz da isti pokret ima operativnu vrijednost.

Spot je već koristan u inspekciji i mapiranju, a akrobacije su ovdje više pokazivanje kontrole nego poslovni slučaj. Kada se robot mora kretati po skladištu, vibracije, prašina, mokar pod i neočekivane prepreke postaju puno važniji od same elegancije salta. U tom smislu, backflip je test hardvera, ali ne i odgovor na pitanje što kupac zapravo dobiva.

Boston Dynamics očito pokušava pomaknuti narativ od "show robot" prema "robustan alat". To je dobar smjer, ali kupci ne kupuju aplauz nego dostupnost, trajanje baterije i servisni trošak. Ako robot za jednu akrobaciju treba trening i idealnu površinu, onda ga stvarni rad neće baš voljeti.

Zato je Spotov backflip zanimljiv kao tehnički signal, a ne kao dokaz da je humanoidna ili četveronožna robotika spremna za sve. U skladištu se ne broje lajkovi, nego uptime. A tu je još uvijek puno važnije može li robot raditi mirno i dosljedno nego može li spektakularno pasti na noge.
