IEEE Spectrumov Video Friday ovdje nije važan zbog zabave nego zbog onoga što pokazuje o treningu robota. LATENT uči humanoidne sustave teniskim pokretima iz nepotpunih demonstracija, što je korisno jer većina stvarnih ljudskih pokreta ionako nije savršeno snimljena. To je pravi korak prema fleksibilnijem učenju.

Ali tenis je nemilosrdan test. Brzina, ravnoteža i vrijeme reakcije brzo pokažu gdje prestaje model, a počinje hardver. Zato ovaj demo izgleda impresivno, ali još nije dokaz da robot može odigrati stvarni meč.

MoDE-VLA i slični pristupi pokazuju da se humanoidna robotika pomiče naprijed. Samo što taj napredak i dalje dolazi uz vrlo jasne granice.

Najveća vrijednost ovog rada nije u spektaklu, nego u tome što uči iz neurednih podataka. To je važna promjena u robotici, jer se stvarni svijet rijetko ponaša kao uredan laboratorijski set.

Ipak, baterije, aktuatori i sigurnosna ograničenja još uvijek određuju koliko daleko robot može otići. Ako ne može ponoviti potez stotinu puta, nije spreman za teren.

Drugim riječima, LATENT je dobar za učenje poena. Za meč će trebati još puno treninga.
